Advocacy services for children and young people who are in care or are leaving care
If you are in care, or are leaving care, the law gives you the right to help from an advocate whenever you want to express your views or make a complaint.
Advocates are separate from social workers and social services.
They are there to help YOU be heard.
They are not there to give their own opinion or tell you what to do. But they can give advice on protecting your rights. They should be able to help you get a lawyer if you need one.
To see telephone numbers, you’ll need to be either using a mobile phone or have your computer set up to make calls.
-
ALWAYS HEARD
If you can’t get hold of the advocacy service in your area, or they say that they can’t give you an advocate – you can still get help.
The children’s charity Coram Voice runs a backup service called Always Heard.
Always Heard promises to get you an advocate.
